NZTrends is enthusiastically committed to offering eco-friendly wood products to its customers. Specifically, the manufacturers of NZTrend’s products are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)*, which is “an independent, non‑governmental, not for profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests… Products carrying the FSC label are independently certified to assure consumers that they come from forests that are managed to meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations.”
FSC is generally considered the most important global organization in the certification of wood products, and is endorsed by all major environmental groups, as well as many large and well known US retailers. NZTrend’s manufacturers are proud to have FSC certification. They meetFSC’s stringent standards in a variety of ways:
• By harvesting dead standing trees, often killed by parasites.
• By reclaiming lumber from old buildings that are being dismantled.
• By using sustainably grown wood, either from tree plantations or through selective, low-impact logging.
*An exception among NZTrend’s suppliers, the Payette River Lumber Company does not yet have FSC certification, but is taking the steps to acquire it. It is however, already certified byLeadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), a US non-profit with goals very similar toFSC, and which recognizes FSC. |
